After a lot of speculation regarding the name of Android O, Google itself has accidentally revealed the name for Android 8.0. So, the questions such as “What is the name of Android 8.0?” or “What does O stand for in Android 8.0?” are put to rest by none other than the mighty Google. Google released a teaser on Google+ to promote the August 21 event where Android O and its name will be released. And the filename of the video was GoogleOreo_Teaser_0817_noDroids (1).mp4. The filename confirms that the O in Android 8.0 stands for “Oreo” and not Oatmeal. In our articles, we always referred Android 8.0 as Oreo, and some of our beloved readers even criticized us for referring Android 8.0 as Oreo. But somewhere, deep in our heart, we were sure that Google will opt for Oreo.

Android 8.0 Oreo

Anyhow, after realizing the mistake Google changed the filename to ‘OctopusTeaser.mp4′. But it was too late and we aren’t buying Octopus now, so it’s going to be Android 8.0 Oreo.
