The primary purpose of AOD is to provide vital information at a glance. For example, if you just need to see the time, with AOD you won’t have to turn on the screen. However, in some lighting conditions, AOD can seem too dim to actually be readable. In Google Pixel 2, AOD is attached with the Adaptive Brightness, which means the brightness of your AOD can vary from 2 to a maximum of 28 depending on the amount ambient light. The maximum integer value for Pixel 2 Adaptive Brightness is 255. And the maximum brightness that AOD can ever gain cannot exceed 11% of 255, which amounts to 28. The level of brightness of AOD at 11%, is just not enough. People are finding ways to push it to the level where they can read whatever is presented on AOD.
