It seems little odd when we come to know that Google has actually failed at something in the internet world. Being the largest internet company, people expect it to be perfect in every service it provides. However, that’s actually not the case. Google has made several attempts at social network services and messaging services but it has miserably failed to beat the likes of Facebook and WhatsApp. Another similar case is in the process; Google is going to pull the plug on Google Play Music and it will be replaced by new streaming service by the name of YouTube Remix. The search giant has struggled a lot to compete against the likes of Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, and iHeartRadio. A recent Business Insider chart places Google Play Music’s market share at a rather lackluster 6% compared to Pandora’s 32% and Spotify’s 18%.
Music Industry is too big to ignore, therefore, Google just can’t ignore the endless opportunities present in this lively industry. So, YouTube Remix is another shot, by Google, at Online Music Services and this time they are going to do something different. The YouTube Remix will be focusing on better recommendations as well as adding the ability to play clips along with the music. There are not many details available for YouTube Remix at the moment. So, we will have to wait until more revelations are made for this upcoming Online Music Service.
A YouTube spokesperson updated Droid-life with the following statement:
We’ve previously announced the combination of the YouTube Music and Google Play product teams — music is very important to Google so it’s critical we have one offering that meets the needs of consumers and artists. Nothing will change for users today and we’ll provide plenty of notice before any changes are made.
