Samsung is ready to unveil the most anticipated smartphones of 2018, Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, on February 25th, 2018 just before Mobile World Congress 2018. At this point, the amount of information related to Galaxy S9 and S9+ is overwhelming, thus, its’ really hard to get hold of all of it. Therefore, we decided to summarize and form a small post in which we are going to lay down the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ specs. Keep in mind that Galaxy S9/S9+ is not officially released yet, but it’s really hard for Samsung to conceal the information regarding both the smartphones. So, we have seen a lot of rumors regarding Galaxy S9/S9+ and most of them are going to be exactly the same. However, anything can be changed at the eleventh hour, so don’t form concrete opinions on basis of this information as yet.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ Specs
Design of Galaxy S9/S9+
As the earlier reported renders suggest, Galaxy S9/S9+ is not going to be much different from predecessors Galaxy S8/S8+. The front is almost identical to Galaxy S8/S8+, with a slightly smaller front bezel at the bottom. The top bezel remains same, with little beefed up Earpiece Grill to accommodate the new front firing AKG tuned speaker.
There are some noticeable changes on the back-side of Galaxy S9/S9+. Samsung has moved the fingerprint scanner below the camera lens. The heartbeat scanner and LED flash would take place next to the fingerprint scanner and camera lens. As we already know, Galaxy S9+ is going to feature a dual-camera setup, therefore, in case of Galaxy S9+, both the camera lenses and fingerprint scanner are stacked beautifully.
Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ Camera
The camera of Galaxy S9/S9+ gets a really nice upgrade. Galaxy S9 comes with 12MP rear-shooter with 2 aperture values to switch from—f/1.5 and f/2.4. This will allow for more light intake when taking shots at night and less light for daytime shots. The Galaxy S9+ will have the same 12MP rear camera along with variable aperture but with another 12 MP zoom lens. These cameras are also said to support Super Slow-Mo video recording at 720p.
3D Emoji Introduced in Galaxy S9/S9+
When Apple introduced Animoji, a lot of critics claimed it to be a useless and creepy feature. Anyhow, this criticism didn’t keep Samsung from introducing 3D Emoji feature in Galaxy S9/S9+. We will have to wait for the launch to see how users take this 3D Emoji Feature. If you ask me, this feature doesn’t add any value to the smartphone, neither did it add any value to iPhone X.
Improved Facial Recognition/Iris Scanner
The front Iris camera is going to get an upgrade from 2MP to 3MP to increase speed and accuracy. The same Iris camera is going to be used for facial recognition feature, so, the 3MP upgrade is going to improve the facial recognition process as well. Intelligent Scan also seems to make its first appearance on Galaxy S9/S9+. Those of you who don’t know what intelligent scan is, see the below video. In short, Intelligent Scan uses both Iris scanner and facial recognition to unlock the phone.
Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ Software
Nothing surprising here. We always knew that Galaxy S9/S9+ is going to be launched with Android 8.0 Oreo. Of course, it will have all the usual features Android Oreo has to offer. On top of that, Galaxy S9/S9+ will come with Samsung Experience 9.0, so, you will be able to enjoy features like App Pair, a new keyboard with built-in stickers and GIFs, and many more.
Bixby
Here comes the most criticized feature of Galaxy S8/S8+. Bixby was first launched with Galaxy S8/S8+ and then it became part of Galaxy Note 8 as well. However, despite, being heavily criticized it seems like Samsung is determined to shove this feature down the throats of the users. In Galaxy S9, Bixby will be able to assist you in the mobile phone setup process. Its’ also rumored that Bixby Vision will be getting an upgrade with new real-time translation.
Most importantly, Bixby has partnered with Sephora to add a real-time 3D makeup augmented reality tester.
