How to Unlock OnePlus 2 Bootloader

OnePlus 2 is now officially available in the market and if you are an owner of this beautiful and powerful Android device then you must be familiar with the features that you will get if you root your Android device. OnePlus 2 comes with a locked bootloader but luckily its now very easy to unlock it now. Rooting process gives Android users privileged access means they can change the permissions. In other words, they can do anything to any file or folder of any Android device. The rooted Android device has many benefits and all you need is some basic knowledge.

For rooting OnePlus 2 you need to unlock its bootloader first. So, if you are interested in unlocking its bootloader then you have come at the right place. Today, we are going to share with you a detailed Android tutorial on how you can unlock OnePlus 2 bootloader easily. But before proceeding it is advised that you make a backup before proceeding.

Pre-Requisites:

First of all, you need to download and install the ADB installer. You can download ADB installer from here.

You have enabled the USB Debugging on your device. You can enable the USB Debugging by going to Settings > About Phone and tap the build number 7 times till you get the message that you are a developer. Now, Go to Developer Option and check the USB Debugging option.

How to Unlock OnePlus Two Bootloader

For unlocking the bootloader. First you need to reboot your OnePlus 2 in bootloader mode, to do that, power off your device and turn it back on by pressing and holding the Power and Volume button together till the boot screen shows up.

Once you are in the bootloader mode, connect your device with your computer using the USB cable and wait till it install all the important drivers.

Now, browse to the folder where ADB is installed and open a command prompt by pressing the Shift Key and clicking right click and choosing ‘open command prompt here’.

Now, type the following command.

fastboot devices

If your device gets listed then you can proceed. If not, then you might need to install the drivers again.

Now, you are going to enter the following command to unlock the bootloader of the device.

fastboot oem unlock

Now, Your OnePlus 2 will go into automatic unlocking process, Make sure you don’t unplug your device.

Your Phone will now display a new screen, simply choose ‘Yes’ by pressing volume up button to confirm the unlocking process.

Your device will now reboot.

That’s it. You have successfully unlocked the bootloader of OnePlus Two. For confirming the status, simply boot into bootloader again, open command prompt and type the following command.

fastboot oem device-info

When you enter this command, you will see the device unlocked is set to ‘true’ meaning the process is successful.
