A couple of weeks back we wrote a tutorial on How to Remap Bixby Button on Galaxy S8/S8+ to Activate Google Assistant. This method worked fine until Samsung recently decided to ax the ability to Remap the Bixby Button on Galaxy S8/S8+. Samsung blocked the ability to Remap Bixby Button by pushing an OTA update. However, a Redditor by the name of Dave Bennett came to the rescue and wrote a simple App by the name of BIXREMAP. This App bypasses the Samsung’s blockade and enables you to Remap Bixby Button once again to Activate Google Assistant. After Remapping Bixby Button with BIXREMAP, whenever the Bixby Button is pressed — you will see a quick flash of Bixby before Google Assistant takes it place and get ready to take Voice Commands.
To install BIXREMAP, you don’t need to root your device or install a custom recovery. No ADB commands are required. Simply install the app from Google Play Store and you are good to go. This is the best alternate way available to Remap Bixby Button at the moment. We hope that developers must be working on it and someone soon will come up with a more neat solution. Having said that, Dave Bennett gets the credit of being so quick to the rescue.
Without any further a due, let’s see how to bypass Samsung’s blockade of ability to Remap Bixby Button.
How to Remap Bixby Button After Samsung Blocks Remapping
- Install BIXREMAP from Google Play Store.
- Now open the App and flip the switch in front of “Allow Usage Tracking” under “Usage Data Access”.
- After you will see a big “Start Service” Button.
That’s it! You have once again remapped the Bixby Button to activate Google Assistant.
