Dark Mode is probably the most desired feature at the moment. From the Chrome Browser to Instagram to Facebook and to every other big app, the dark mode has become inevitable. We had been reading about Dark mode coming to WhatsApp for a long time now. Anyhow, it seems like it’s finally going to happen. According to WABetaInfo’s Tweet — “I am happy to exclusively give the good news: WhatsApp is finally working on a Dark Mode! It is a dream.”
After months of work, it seems like WhatsApp is ready to officially roll-out dark mode in the stable update. The new dark mode has to be activated manually, however, it can also be used in automatic mode in correspondence with the smartphone’s energy-saving mode.
For smartphones running Android Pie or older will have WhatsApp Dark mode tied with Battery levels. Which means, the dark mode will automatically be enabled in WhatsApp once your phone’s battery starts running low. And will switch back to light mode once your battery is charged up to a certain percentage. Users will get three options to choose from: ‘Set by Batter Saver’, ‘Light Mode’, and ‘Dark Mode’.
However, the phones running Android 10 would change the WhatsApp theme depending on whether the user has enabled system-wide night mode or not. As we know, the most prominent new feature of Android 10 is system-wide dark mode. So, WhatsApp will automatically respect the theme you have chosen for OS, system-wide.
WhatsApp dark mode is not publically available yet. But we expect an official announcement pretty soon.
